The second edition of the Monterey Beach Open volleyball tournament will be held this weekend at Del Monte Beach.

Saturday will feature over 100 youth doubles teams from California, Arizona and Nevada competing in different age brackets. On Sunday, amateur and professional beach volleyball players will compete for a $2,000 prize purse.

There will be 18 beach volleyball courts, along with a DJ and food and apparel vendors at the free event. The Monterey Beach Open runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with play beginning at 9 a.m.

As of Wednesday, there were spots remaining for two Girls 12u teams and two Boys 16u teams. Send an email to Jason Companion at [email protected] to place your junior team on the waiting list. Be sure to include names of both players, dates of birth and the requested age division.
