Cal Am just announced that the water main break off of Surf Way has been fixed and they are re-pressurizing the lines now. The traffic detour entering our neighborhood should be lifted shortly.
Following a water main break, it is recommended you flush the cold water lines you use in your home or business. It is recommended you flush your taps as a precaution because of an increase in the number of water main breaks in our aging infrastructure. It will cost you just pennies per faucet to take this important step.
It is also suggested to run all cold water taps for five minutes. If you have a single-lever faucet, set it to run the cold water. Begin with the highest faucet in your home or business and then open the other faucets one at a time, moving from your highest floor to your lowest.
After five minutes, turn off your faucets in reverse order, from lowest to highest. You should also flush your refrigerator’s water lines.
Flushing your water lines lowers the risk of potential contamination that is created whenever a water main is depressurized because of a break. This is particularly important for people who have special health concerns because their immunity is compromised.
