Less Than A Week Away! MS Walk 2015!

Next Sunday, April 26 is the annual MS Walk!

The walk is at Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove. It starts at 9am, so let’s meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Registration Table and don’t forget to wear your ORANGE! The walk goes down the bike path next to our Del Monte Beach Neighborhood.

Beach Cleanup This Saturday

Save Our Shores is sponsoring 10 beach cleanups on Saturday in honor of Earth Day, including cleanups at Elkhorn Slough, Del Monte Beach and Carmel Beach.

Volunteer help is needed at cleanups slated for 4 Mile Beach, Cowell Beach, San Lorenzo River, Twin Lakes State Beach, Soquel Creek and Beer Can Beach in Santa Cruz County; and Elkhorn Slough, Del Monte Beach and Carmel Beach in Monterey County.

To get involved, go to saveourshores.org/volunteer/earth-day for more information; times for cleanups vary by location, although most are from 10 a.m. to noon.

All cleanup materials will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring reusable buckets, gloves and water bottles to help reduce waste. Individuals and groups are welcome.

California Imposes First-Ever Water Restrictions to Deal With Drought

Gov. Jerry Brown ordered mandatory water use reductions for the first time in California’s history on Wednesday, saying the state’s four-year drought had reached near-crisis proportions after a winter that brought record-low snowfalls.

Protesters Blocking Southbound HWY 1 Near Fremont Boulevard

About 50 protesters are blocking Highway 1 Saturday afternoon in Monterey, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

Protesters are walking northbound on the southbound lane of the highway near the Freemont Boulevard exit. The California Highway Patrol said they have closed part of the highway
